-----Charming unique french vintage antique small square cake plate. The lovely model plate was made by famous french manufacturer or earthenware 'GIEN', in Terre de Fer in the Lorraine red tulips pattern with yellow trim.
Stamped on the back "GIEN France ~ Lorraine- decor a la main" with the image of a castle. Based on my research of the Maker's mark this plate was manufactured between the time frame mid 1950s.
PLEASE NOTE: I have 8 plates in Total but this listing price is for ONE 1 plate. The listing is programmed to allow you to select a quantity you wish to purchase. Please ask me if the shipping doesn't make sense as the Etsy system is NOT programmed in France to calculate the shipping automatically so it's a manual entry subject to error. If the shipping is not correct, I always refund overages when processing my orders.
I sell other pieces in this pattern if you search "lorraine" from my home shop page.
--- Condition ---
In rustic vintage condition given the age there are certainly signs of usage such as some pattern bleeding/blue ink marks/fading in certain spots on the surface, manufacturing marks and surface spots, utensil marks/surface scratches, manufacturing /glazing marks on the surface, there are areas around the edges of wearing down of the protection, subtle areas of discoloration and surface crazing as show in the photos. There are no visible chips or cracks. Please ask me if you are unsure. PLEASE use ZOOM to review closely the detail and condition of the plates.
**Special Note about aged Porcelain**
If you are not accustomed to this ‘look’, google crazing and the aging process of porcelain. The Japanese use crazing to add an artistic look to their pieces whereas antiques go through the natural aging process.
These items are old, were used and were manufactured at a time when processes were less under control as today. Therefore, in addition to the defects identified and reported in the ad, slight dimensional differences or deviations in the color or in the decoration between the different parts could be noted. Besides, some little marks or small manufacturing imperfections such as minor defects in the glaze or in the varnish etc., may also be observed.
--- Measurements & Weight ---
Approximately 14-14.5 cm x 1 cm &160 grams each not including the packaging weight.
